Published in The Saudi Gazette on 16 - 07 - 2020

RIYADH — The Amaala ultra-luxury tourism project, located along Saudi Arabia's pristine northwestern Red Sea coast, has been designed to enhance the tourism experience throughout the year.
Amaala will become the heart of a new Middle East Riviera as part of a new Red Sea ecosystem, which includes NEOM and the Red Sea Project.
The unique heritage and unspoiled landscape of Amaala will allow travelers to immerse themselves in the finest wellness, art, culture, sports and fitness offerings. As envisioned in the Vision 2030 strategy, Amaala intends to support the diversification of Saudi Arabia's leisure and tourism industry, while promoting cultural conservation, ecological preservation and sustainability.
Situated in a central position between Europe, Africa and the Middle East, Amaala takes luxury to an unprecedented level by providing an array of lifestyle experiences, with social norms adopting leading practices to improve standards of livability for its residents and visitors.
The Amaala region abounds in natural resources and rich marine resources, with rare and distinct coral reefs that represent about 6.2 percent of coral reefs around the world. The Amaala project embraces more than 144 types of coral reefs, including solid, soft, and branched and submerged coral colonies, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
Amaala is working on implementing researches and initiatives to protect marine resources with a view to preserving the world's oceans, where it was identified four main axes of joint work and exploration represented in managing coral reefs, protecting rare and distinctive species, marine reserves, and combating plastic pollution.
As part of Prince Mohammad Bin Salman Natural Reserve, the project, stretching on the north-western coast of the Kingdom, is formed as a hidden jewel in the heart of the scenic nature, amid enchanting scenery, extending over an area of 4,155 square kilometers, providing a unique touristy experience throughout the year.
The project offers an immersive experience for travelers and residents that is underpinned by a strong focus on environmental preservation, conservation of marine life and sustainable practices. The project includes more than 2,500 hotel rooms and more than 800 residential villas and apartments, in addition to 200 modern stores and restaurants, as well as recreation, leisure and entertainment center, all featuring the highest levels of luxury and entertainment.
Amala has three destinations, which are Triple Bay; the Coastal Development; and the Island, where these destinations provide different and unique experiences for visitors.
The Triple Bay is carefully designed to suit the needs of the local environment, to be an integrated destination for health, convalescence and recreation, and will contain the finest modern medical and diagnostic facilities and authentic treatments. It is a holistic wellness retreat with luxury medical and wellness resorts, and a range of recreational activities.
The Coastal Development will become a pivotal center for culture and contemporary arts at the level of the Middle East. It will feature a cultural district comprising a museum of contemporary art, film festival venue, performing arts venues, and a Biennale park.
The Island is distinguished by its unique location where it will become a peaceful and inspiring haven for an exceptional arts community. Being one of the world's most exclusive enclaves, it will offer exquisitely designed Arabic botanical gardens showcasing works of art, sculptures, and breath-taking landscapes, all surrounding beautifully appointed private residences.
