Published in The Saudi Gazette on 16 - 07 - 2020

King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) has implemented many empowerment projects in the Republic of Yemen with the aim of improving livelihoods, achieving sustainable development, and caring for Yemeni families economically, socially, and psychologically.
The empowerment projects, in addition, provided the Yemeni people with basic needs to alleviate the severity of the humanitarian crisis that the Yemenis have been enduring over the years.
During the period from July 15, 2015 to July 15, 2016, KSrelief in partnership with the United Nations relief agency Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) implemented a project to provide emergency livelihood inputs for internally displaced people and host communities in affected governorates following the humanitarian crisis in Yemen.
The project is aimed at empowering farmers by providing agricultural inputs and facilities to obtain fish stocks, in addition to enabling farmers by installing solar energy pumps to ensure the provision of water, benefiting 554,486 individuals.
A project to protect civil society for human rights and provide psychological and social support to victims was also implemented in cooperation with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) during the period from Jan. 1, 2015 to Jan. 1, 2016, benefiting 3,704 individuals.
KSrelief in partnership with the United Nations Population Fund (UNPF), during the period Jan. 9, 2015, to Feb. 29, 2016, implemented a project to strengthen multiple life-saving sectors with the aim of strengthening prevention from existing violence and the form of any act of physical, psychological or social violence, and 313,375 individuals have benefited from this project.
KSrelief also implemented a project to support and sponsor orphans in cooperation with the Yemeni International Organization, benefiting 100 of the families of orphans and their children.
KSrelief implemented in Yemen, in cooperation with the International Organization for Migration (IOM), a project to assist the integration of returning refugee students from host communities to Lahij Governorate.
The project targeted 3,468 male and female students and teachers, and included the rehabilitation of schools in addition to training teachers on handling crisis and emergency situations.
KSrelief also implemented a project of Integrated Response for Agriculture in cooperation with FAO that aimed to empower farmers by providing farming tools and agricultural seeds for them in order to achieve food security and nutrition for their communities.
The project also trained them on how to improve and produce high-value vegetables for food sustainability, and thousands of male and female farmers benefited from it.
The center also implemented a project, which aims to empower single women to provide multi-sectoral support to them and for orphans, such as the provision of food baskets and health and psychological services, as well as the empowerment of single women through economic programs and vocational and professional training, in addition to providing educational support to orphans.
These projects come within the framework of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, represented King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief), to provide various services and assistance to the Yemeni people and to support the leading humanitarian, relief and development programs and projects in Yemen.
The center also works to improve living conditions in light of the directives of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman and Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman, deputy prime minister and minister of defense, to support the Yemeni people and work to alleviate their sufferings. — SPA
