Deputy Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the United Nations Dr. Khalid Bin Muhammad Manzalawi and UN's Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres discussed ways to find out a solution to the Renaissance Dam crisis between Egypt, Sudan, and Ethiopia.
Dr. Manzalawi and the UN chief participated in a virtual meeting of the Arab Mini-Committee on Wednesday evening and sought solution to the Renaissance Dam crisis.
Dr. Manzalawi explained to the secretary-general that Saudi Arabia has distinguished relations with all parties concerned, pointing to the mandate of the League of Arab States to follow up developments in the matter in the Security Council, in order to reach an agreement that guarantees the rights and interests of all parties.
He stressed the importance of water security for both Egypt and Sudan and rejected any action that would affects the rights of all parties in the waters of the Nile.
He added the need to resume negotiations in good-faith in order to reach fair agreement that takes into account the interests of all to spare the region any serious escalation in the future.
