NEOM begins enrollment of local students for IT program in university
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 15 - 06 - 2020

TABUK/NEOM — NEOM, Saudi Arabia's mega "smart city" project, opened on Monday registration and admission for a new batch of students from the local community for Information Technology (IT) program. The admission to the course will continue until June 25, 2020.
The enrollment in the course has begun following the success of the first phase of the "NEOM" Program for Internal Scholarships Ending with Employment that was launched in late January 2020, in cooperation with Fahd Bin Sultan University in Tabuk.
"NEOM" said that the applicants will be able to register and start studying for a bachelor's degree in specializations that include Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Data Science and Analysis at Fahd Bin Sultan University, with the possibility of students who excel in their studies to be sent on scholarship abroad to complete their last academic year in an American university.
The Information Technology (IT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) sector forms one of the basic building blocks in support of the digital transformation process witnessed by the Kingdom, as well as one of the most prominent sectors to make "NEOM" the smartest project of its kind in the world, the company said.
The selection of the candidates will be based on proficiency and the available academic seats, and each student will receive a monthly stipend during the study period, NEOM said.
The program offers many career paths for students who complete it successfully, in addition to attractive job opportunities in the "NEOM" project, upon completion of their studies, so that they can contribute to building the digital future of the region, "NEOM" said.
The announcement by "NEOM" comes to complement the partnership it signed with Fahd Bin Sultan University early this year, to provide scholarships for 500 male and female students during the next five years, from the sons and daughters of the regions of Tabuk and Neom, in several specialized fields, including renewable energy engineering and information technology.
It also comes within a series of projects launched by "NEOM" as part of its corporate social responsibility that focuses on integrating the local community to be an integral part of this project, by developing their skills and capabilities, and creating job opportunities tailored to build on the great need for local competencies in NEOM's 16 economic sectors.
