JEDDAH — The Indian Pilgrims Welfare Forum (IPWF), run under the aegis of the Indian Consulate General, will be holding a Qur'an Recitation Competition for children during the Holy Month of Ramadan. The competition will be held on Friday, May 15, 2020. The entry, restricted to Indians residing in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, is free, and participants must be between the ages ten to 14 years (both ages inclusive). To be selected for the final round, participants must submit via What'sApp to IPWF (0569192939) their Qur'an recitation video of Surah "Al-Qaria". The sample clip should carry the participant's name, school, location, mobile number and recitation video. All participants must complete the given link (JotForm https://form.jotform.com/201263787810456) and register. The last date for submission of the clip is (1700hrs) May 12. Only one entry per participant would be accepted. If more entries are sent the participant would be disqualified. Out of all submissions, fifteen participants would be short-listed as semifinalists, who will compete via Zoom on Friday at 2:30 p.m. Five finalists would be selected from these 15, and all would be awarded certificates and prizes during the next IPWF event. During the competition, each participant would be asked to recite 1 Surah by a panel of judges from these 3 Surahs: Al-Jumua/ Ad-dhuha/ Al-Adiyat. Participants must memorize the above assigned Surahs. Participants would be tested on memorization and recitation according to the rules of Tajweed. They would be penalized if they open the Qur'an while reciting. The judges' decision on all issues would be final.
