Trump will try to postpone US election, says Biden
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 24 - 04 - 2020

Former US Vice President and presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden reckons President Donald Trump will try to postpone the country's November election in an attempt to win.
"Mark my words, I think he is gonna try to kick back the election somehow, come up with some rationale why it can't be held," Biden said during a virtual fundraiser on Thursday.
"Imagine threatening not to fund the post office. Now, what in God's name is that about? Other than trying to let the word out that he's going to do all he can to make it very hard for people to vote," Biden said. "That's the only way he thinks he can possibly win."
Biden has maintained the November election should not be postponed and has previously made similar comments.
Trump has not made any comments about delaying the Nov. 3 election, and he does not have the power to do so unilaterally.
But fears over the coronavirus and its spread have increased concerns over how the election will be held safely, with new calls to expand access to voting and voting by mail.
Biden said Congress needs to ensure that states have sufficient funding for expanded voting options during the pandemic.
Biden, highlighting Trump's recent threat to veto emergency funding for the US Post Office, claimed it was an example of the president's intention to "do all he can to make it very hard for people to vote."
Some Democrats have been pushing for expanded mail-in voting for the election as a way to keep voters safe amid the coronavirus epidemic, but Trump has been critical of the idea.
While mail-in voting and absentee ballots remain methods many say could help limit voters spreading coronavirus, Trump maintains they create the potential for fraud.
"Mail ballots — they cheat. OK? People cheat," the president said earlier this month, adding "there's a lot of dishonesty going along with mail-in voting."
Meanwhile, dozens of US states have postponed their primary races, which will officially determine who will be the presidential nominee. — Agencies
