Published in The Saudi Gazette on 23 - 04 - 2020

Bahrain Medical Society (BMS) affirmed its constant eagerness to contribute actively to the national efforts led by Prince Salman Bin Hamad Al Khalifa, crown prince, deputy supreme commander and first deputy prime minister, to tackle coronavirus, and within the framework of "BeAware" campaign aims to promote awareness of the prevention of COVID-19.
The Society stated that it had launched an awareness campaign with the participation of many doctors from various hospitals and health facilities, intending to encourage citizens and residents to fully comply with the coronavirus' precautionary measures in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
This campaign comes within the framework of the great and sincere efforts by the medical and health cadres in Bahrain to tackle coronavirus and provide health and treatment services, in addition to awareness and preventive consultations.
Doctors of various medical specialties and degrees contribute mainly to this campaign, through publishing health awareness phrases regarding the prevention of the emerging COVID-19.
Dr. Nazar Bukamal, general secretary of the Society, said that the Society is keen to invest all available means and make optimal use of modern technologies and smart devices to strengthen the awareness of the community, preserving public health and spreading reassurance among all members of society.
Dr. Bukamal affirmed that the Bahrain community has proven positive to interaction with the implementation of all precautionary and preventive measures to tackle coronavirus.
"The Society also seeks through this campaign to raise awareness of all residents and citizens to download the "BeAware" app on their smart devices, to preserve their safety and the safety of their families, as this app aims to combat coronavirus by tracking the movement of home quarantine cases and notifications of close proximity with confirmed cases," Dr. Bukamal added.
Dr. Bukamal said, "The Society's doctors and members of the medical cadres are the first line of defense in the face of this pandemic and this represents their social responsibility towards Bahrain because the Society is one of the main elements in the national efforts to combat the virus.
"We must confirm that the medical and health cadres in the Kingdom are doing their best to apply the best health practices in examination and treatment and they have shown high efficiency in assuming their responsibilities in these difficult circumstances." — SG
