Medcare and Cisco unveil telehealth platform Allowing patients to connect live with doctors through videoconferencing
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 10 - 04 - 2020

Medcare Hospitals & Medical Centres, the UAE's premium provider of healthcare services, has in collaboration with Cisco, announced the roll-out of its telehealth technology that will give patients access to value-added videoconferencing health services on their laptops and mobile phones, meaning that they can receive the quality healthcare they need from anywhere.
Collaborating with Cisco, the world's leader in IT and networking services, Medcare and Cisco have worked to combine health technology and the convenience of telemedicine. Designed to empower patients to take control of their health, telehealth literally puts it in the hands of the people.
From video medical consultations to booking appointments and speaking directly with a number of specialist doctors to recommended care pathways, this platform delivers healthcare outside of traditional clinical facilities whilst also ensuring improved quality and better value healthcare and delivery across the UAE.
Medcare has identified best in class primary care doctors with years of private care experience to be part of the platform, and all doctors are fully qualified to diagnose a patient's condition, recommend treatment plans, provide second opinions on previous diagnoses and give advice on prescription and non-prescription medications.
If, in the instance that specialist treatment is required, the telehealth doctors are equipped and ready to recommend and refer patients to the appropriate specialists and facilities. All doctors have received additional clinic and platform training to ensure they are fully ready to conduct the new patient consultation process.
Andre Daoud, group CEO of Medcare Hospitals & Medical Centres, said of the new initiative: "The health and wellbeing of the UAE community is our number one priority and as such we have been working with Cisco to create a service that will support the vision of the UAE in healthcare, and change patients' lives for the better.
"Reimagine healthcare with digital communications. In creating this virtual platform, we will continue to provide the best in healthcare services offering personalized consultations with best in class doctors. We want to empower the people of the UAE to take control of their own health and give them convenient and easy ways to look after and manage their health and those of family members.
"It is Medcare's promise to continue to bring the best health and wellness services to the community, in tandem with our local and regional partners using innovations such as the Telehealth platform to really make a difference to our communities."
Talking about this innovative use of technology, Shukri Eid, managing director of Cisco Gulf Region said: "We are extremely honoured to be working with Medcare to develop this platform. We are thrilled to be able to transfer our experience in the telemedicine field to Medcare in order to address the needs of their patients and wider community. We have provided Medcare with the technology and the rigorous training needed to deliver a new standard in medical consultations to patients across the UAE."
Videoconferencing through the telehealth platform is extremely easy. Simply visit www.medcare.ae, click on the home banner for "live consultation with a doctor", register with a call agent and talk to your doctor immediately.
