Saudi women are role models for professional excellence and leadership
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 08 - 03 - 2020

The number of employment opportunities for women across industries in Saudi Arabia is rising as the government shifts its focus on an approach that provides more opportunities for women. Real estate, tourism, and healthcare sectors generate career prospects for females who are looking to advance in their professional life.
Recognizing women's role in nation building and accelerating the country's progress in the modern world, Saudi Vision 2030 emphasizes the importance of increased female participation in the workforce. It pushes for initiatives supporting women's advancement in their careers, while at the same time encouraging them to take on leadership positions.
In the local healthcare industry, Saudi German Hospitals (SGH) Group is at the forefront of supporting women by providing them with equal opportunities. Spearheading Saudi women's empowerment and development aspirations in the healthcare sector, SGH continues to provide healthcare training and education sessions and invest in their professional growth, thereby enabling them to shape their future and contribute to the development of the society.
For instance, Dr. May Al Khunaizi, CEO, SGH Dammam, is a role model for a Saudi woman in leadership position in the region's healthcare sector.
With an impressive professional background, Dr. May boasts 25 years of experience in neonatology and hospital administration. Apart from her CEO position, she is also the Regional Director of the Neonatal Resuscitation Program and the Consultant for Joint Commission International.
Dr. Al Khunaizi holds a PhD Research in Biochemistry from Harvard University, where she also had her training in neonatology. She received her medical license from King Faisal University in Dammam and a degree in Hospital Administration in Health Care from Johns International University. She completed the American Board in Pediatric Medicine in 2001.
Saudi Arabia was reported to be the country that has made ‘the biggest improvement globally' since 2017. As the country is expected to fulfill the objectives and goals of "Saudi Vision 2030" with regards to providing equal opportunities to women, SGH Group proactively plans to gradually increase its share of women employees and localization rates across its various departments in the coming period. — SG
