RIYADH — The Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property (SAIP) has started receiving trademark registration applications from interested parties in accordance with the GCC trademark law. The SAIP has undertaken the task of registering the trademark as per the decision of the Council of Ministers. The Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property is completing the work that has been done by the Ministry of Trade and Investment in the field of trademarks in the Kingdom by improving the existing laws and joining the international agreements in this regard, such as the Madrid Protocol (The International Trademark System), the Nice Agreement (Concerning the International Classification of Goods and Services for the Purposes of the Registration of Marks ) and the Vienna Agreement (Establishing an International Classification of the Figurative Elements of Marks), which would facilitate the procedures, to move toward the vision of SAIP to be a pioneer of intellectual property in the Middle East and North Africa region. The Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property (SAIP) invites the public who wish to use the services related to trademarks to communicate through the portal launched by the authority www.saip.gov.sa/Sample, and complete the required data or through its official channels. It should be noted that trademarks gained a great importance in the Kingdom since the establishment of the first law of distinguish marks in the Kingdom in 1358 Hijra year, 83 years ago and through developing their laws and improving their regulations, up to the Gulf marks law in the year 1435 Hijra year. It is now one of the most important factors that influences the market activity by stimulating innovation and entrepreneurship.
