Published in The Saudi Gazette on 03 - 02 - 2020

SAMACO Automotive Company, the exclusive dealer for Volkswagen in Saudi Arabia, announced that Volkswagen car sales increased by 87% in 2019 compared to 2018.
In an interview with Mohamed Mousa, General Manager of Volkswagen brand at Samaco Automotive Company, he said: "Volkswagen sales achieved a significant increase in 2019, with the largest share attributed to the sales of the Tiguan model. This model has been attracting customers from around the kingdom highlighting the demand for affordable innovative German engineering, cutting-edge technology and striking design. The Teramont, our seven-seater SUV, and the Passat, have also seen high customer demand."
The Volkswagen Tiguan was released into the market as the first Volkswagen SUV to be built on the state-of-the-art MQB platform and includes the latest technology innovations such as App Connect. This smart SUV also showcases a sophisticated design and total passenger comfort, making it an instant hit with customers. As one of the most advanced compact SUVs, the Tiguan presents a redefined and striking design, spacious interior, along with cutting-edge safety and technology features, including the Active Info Display, Adaptive Cruise Control, 4MOTION, DSG transmission, and further enhanced technological features. This model is available in two engines, the first one is a turbocharged four-cylinder 2.0L, producing 184 horsepower and a maximum torque of 300 Nm, and the second is a turbocharged four-cylinder 2.L, producing 220 horsepower; both engines are equipped with a 7-speed automatic transmission.
Moreover, Mousa pointed out that the high demand for Volkswagen cars over the past year has also seen a growing demand for the Teramont, the brand's seven-seater family SUV. The Teramont is available in four trim levels to suit the requirements of different customers. The Teramont presents itself as the perfect family SUV, with a functional seven-seat layout, effortless one-step third row entry and exit, even with child seats in place – making room for all the family."
Mohamed Mousa stressed that this positive change in brand sales figures is also attributed to several other factors, the most important of which is the economic and political stability and accelerated development in various fields. He also highlighted that the support provided by the SAMACO shareholders has made it possible for the brand to expand and open more integrated facilities and centers including showrooms, maintenance and spare parts facilities, as well as to modernize and upgrade the existing facilities, which has helped expand the range of services provided and make them closer to the consumer.
He added: "Today, all Volkswagen facilities are in excellent condition and are able to provide outstanding after-sales services. Modernization and expansion not only apply to new facilities, but also include the human resources behind this distinctive brand. In fact, we have recruited new employees to work in different divisions and share their skills and experience in providing the highest standards of service and care for the Volkswagen brand and its customers' demands." — SG
