US President Donald Trump on Monday strongly defended his decision to kill top Iranian general Qasem Soleimani. "The Fake News Media and their Democrat Partners are working hard to determine whether or not the future attack by terrorist Soleimani was 'eminent' or not, & was my team in agreement," Trump tweeted, misspelling "imminent." "The answer to both is a strong YES., but it doesn't really matter because of his horrible past!" Trump's attack on the senior Senate Democrat Chuck Schumer and House of Representatives speaker Nancy Pelosi followed criticism of his ordering a deadly drone strike against a top Iranian general, Qasem Soleimani. "Anything I do, whether it's the economy, military, or anything else, will be scorned by the Rafical Left, Do Nothing Democrats!" Trump fumed on Twitter, misspelling "Radical." Responding to criticism that he was reckless in ordering the killing of Soleimani — by some counts the second most important figure in the entire Iranian government — Trump again insisted that there'd been an imminent threat. But he also hedged his words, adding that even without an immediate threat requiring such a high-profile attack, Soleimani's past justified the action. Last week, Trump told a reelection campaign rally that Pelosi and other Democrats could not be trusted with classified information in cases like the killing In mid-October Soleimani instructed his Shia militia allies in Iraq to step up attacks on US targets in the country using sophisticated weapons provided by Iran, according to news reports. US Vice President Mike Pence also justified Soleimani's killing, saying the Iranian general was "directly responsible" for the death of 603 US service members, in addition to thousands wounded. In Syria Soleimani "continued support to the murderous regime...aiding and abetting (Syrian President) Assad's brutal abuses against the Syrian people," Pence said in a tweet on Jan. 4.
