Okaz/Saudi Gazette TAIF — Five female teachers were seriously injured in a car accident recently, a report issued by the Taif traffic police said. Col. Ali Al-Shibani, director of Taif traffic police, said the accident happened on Wednesday while the teachers were on the Taif-Baha tourist road en route to their school in Misan region to the south of Taif. "Heavy rains and speeding by the 61-year-old Saudi driver caused the four-wheel car to overturn, seriously injuring the five female teachers," he said. Shibani said the driver was also injured in the accident and the car sustained serious damage. A number of male relatives of the female teachers asked for transferring them to Taif because their health condition was deteriorating day after day. Salma Al-Shuhaib, a woman teacher, said they were relaxing in the back seat when the car overturned throwing two of their colleagues to a long distance outside. Jameela Al-Khaldi, another teacher said, they usually start their 200km journey to their school early in the morning. Sultan Al-Khaldi was astonished by the report of the Saudi Red Crescent Authority which said the injuries were simple or medium and said they had no idea if the car was insured or not.
