UMLUJ – Umluj Governor Ziyad Bin Abdulmuhsin Al-Bazei at the weekend launched recently the Red Sea Company beach cleaning project. The project was organized by the company in partnership with "Blue Gears" and several other government authorities and private companies. The event took place at the Events Tent set up north of Al-Dugm Tourist Resort, Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported. Governor Al-Bazei, Dean of Umluj University College Dr. Samir Nooh, head of Umluj Municipal Council Maj. Gen. Abdulaziz Mahmood Al-Jihani (Retd.) and several personnel of the Red Sea Company for Development volunteered in the beach cleaning campaign. The governor urged all to adopt the governorate's message to keep the marine environment clean and to convey it to all members of the society in order to preserve nature's biological cycle. Meanwhile, the head of Environmental Sustainability at the Red Sea Company for Development Rosti Bernard said: "Throwing plastic garbage into the sea will transform it with time into minute particles that can be ingested by man via fish and other sea delicacies. The operations for cleaning the beaches will continue to spread awareness. The company has allocated several of its employees to follow up this matter. By the year 2050, the quantity of garbage will be more than the marine organisms in the sea, unless we dispose of this garbage properly and prevent its proliferation." The volunteering participants in the beach cleaning campaign, including male and female general and university education students and teachers collected large quantities of garbage.
