RIYADH — Turki Al-Sheikh, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the General Entertainment Authority (GEA) and President of Riyadh Season, announced on Thursday about a car of the future called "Car 2030" during a press conference held in the Riyadh Car Show in Janadriyah. Al-Sheikh announced that the "Car 2030" will be a solo car in the world and is manufactured specifically for the Riyadh Motor Show, being kick-started as part of the Riyadh Season. "A global car auction is taking place for the first time in the Kingdom. At Riyadh Car Show, car enthusiasts would have the chance to purchase classics, modified, antiques, and even futuristic cars," Al-Sheikh said. The Riyadh Motor Show kicked off on Thursday at the third area of the Riyadh Season, and will last until Thursday, Nov. 26. The international exhibition for motor vehicles is the most influential automotive show in the region that displays the latest modern passenger and commercial cars and other motor vehicles from around the world. The event will see several events cater to the passion of car enthusiasts, such as Ferrari, Human Cannon Ball and simulated racing, RC & Drifting races, Monster Jam, Police Academy, Hot Wheels. A variety of musical concerts will be held as part of the event. Brazilian soccer star Ronaldinho, meanwhile, has become the first buyer at the Riyadh Motor Show, with a successful bid for the car of his fancy on Thursday. Aston Martin (Rapid AMR), one of the world's 200 cars of its kind, grabbed the fascination of the Brazilian star, who readily bought it. There are more than 1,200 classic and rare cars in the world.
