8.2% increase in Saudis working in private sector

RIYADH — The number of Saudi men and women working for the private sector has increased by about 8.2 percent by the end of the second quarter of 2019 to reach 247,096 compared to 228,286 in the same period in 2018, business daily Al-Eqtisadiah reported on Saturday quoting figures of the General Organization of Social Insurance (GOSI).
The organization said about 14.8 percent of the Saudis working in the private sector were receiving average monthly salaries of SR10,000 or more.
It said the number of Saudis employed by the private sector by the end of the first quarter of 2019 were 246,298.
GOSI distributed the Saudis in the private sector into six categories; the first one was receiving monthly salaries reaching SR1,500, the second from SR1,501 to SR2,999, the third SR3,000, the fourth from SR3,001 to SR4,999, the fifth from SR5,000 to SR9,999 and the sixth SR10,000 or more.
According to the organization, the Saudis receiving salaries of SR3,000 represented about 41.7 percent while those earning salaries of more than SR3,000 were 58.3 percent.
GOSI said the number of the Saudis working for the private sector in 2015 were 190,362. They went up to 208,000 in 2016, 217,523 in 2017 then to 228,000 in 2018 and finally to 247,094 in the second quarter of the current year.
