Madinah's King Faisal Hospital may partially open in seven months
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 10 - 11 - 2019

MADINAH — Emir Prince Faisal Bin Salman inspected progress on the King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center in Madinah (KFSHRC), which will have a capacity of 300 beds.
Prince Faisal was received by Dr. Rashid Al-Hamid, assistant CEO of KFSHRC in Riyadh, and Dr. Nizar Khalifa, executive director general of KFSHRC in Madinah. The emir was briefed with a detailed explanation of various stages of the engineering plans to develop the main building of the hospital for specialized services. Up to 75 percent of construction work has already been completed around the building, Saudi Press Agency (SPA) said.
Dr. Khalifa said that work is proceeding according to a timeline to launch the first phase of the project's medical services during the second quarter of 2020.
The hospital will provide specialized services, including chemotherapy for oncology patients, intensive care and hypnosis departments.
In September last tear, Custodian of The Two Holy Mosques King Salman issued royal directives to transform the Al-Meeqat Hospital project in to a specialized hospital and making it part of the General Organization of KFSH&RC.
Soon afterwards, specialized teams began to develop plans to execute the royal direction in cooperation with the Ministry of Health. This was done with the intention to provide the organizational setup and infrastructure needed for implementing the project in its new specifications.
The project consists of a 300-bed main hospital with a number of other buildings connected with the project for housing and support services. The arrangements that are reflected in various developmental and humanitarian initiatives are part of the extra and continuous care for the Prophet's City.
The project after its completion and operation will mark one of the most important additions in the specialized medical care in the Kingdom. The latest standards and methods of provision of service will be applied by integrating it with the system of the General Organization of KFSH&RC at its headquarter in Riyadh and its branch in Jeddah based on the hospital's long expertise of more than four decades in the field of medical care. The project will also make it possible to expand the specialized care services for the citizens. It is expected that the services would be made easily and quickly accessible by people. It would also lead to further improvements in the quality of health services both in preventive and therapeutic aspects in relation to the chronic and difficult diseases.
