Okaz/Saudi Gazette ABHA — The repeated attempts by the Iranian-backed Houthi militias to disrupt air traffic by targeting Abha International Airport have failed. Col. Turki Al-Maliki, spokesman of the Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen, said on Friday the Saudi Royal Air Defense Forces and the Saudi Royal Air Force were able to intercept and destroy five drones launched by terrorist Houthi militias toward Abha International Airport and Khamis Mushayt governorate. Several passengers, interviewed by Okaz, in the airport following the botched attempts to target the airport with five drones, stressed that the airport is operating normally and arrival and departure flights are on time. They said that they were completing travel procedures normally and there is no effect on aviation by the futile attempts of Houthi militias. They said they have full confidence in the capabilities of the air defense forces that have thwarted all the criminal attempts by the Houthi militias. They stressed that the Kingdom's airports will remain safe, thanks to the work to fortify them. They added that the Houthi militias have resorted to targeting civilians.
