RIYADH — The number of bodies lying unclaimed in mortuaries have decreased by a third over the last year, according to a member of the committee responsible for the burial and repatriation of unclaimed bodies. Brig. Abdullah Al-Siyat said this is due to increased awareness among the public and businesses. He said police stations, the Civil Defense, traffic police and mortuaries were instructed to submit a weekly report on unclaimed bodies. This will allow the committee to investigate each case and either bury the body or repatriate it.
