PISES Riyadh hosts annual commendation ceremony

RIYADH — PISES-Riyadh honored its high achievers of IGCSE and ‘A' Level of year 2018 with shields and trophies at a memorable Annual Commendation Ceremony here last weekend.
Pakistan Ambassador Raja Ali Ejaz was chief guest. Muhammad Tanveer, principal of PISES, together with the members of reception committee, welcomed all the guests warmly. The event started with the arrival of Chairman SMC, Capt. Amir Mehmood and Vice Chairman SMC Dr. Ashfaq Bukhari, who were among the galaxy of dignitaries and guests.
Malik Muhammad Moaz, Umer Shahbaz, Zaibunnissa (students of A Levels) along with Saima Noreen, Ghulam Mujtaba compered the event. The ceremony formally started with the recitation of verses from the Holy Qur'an by Syed Abubakr Habib (grade 9C). Abdullah bin Masood (grade 9 B) read out the English translation of the verses. Muhammd Naeem Akhtar, head of examinations dept., organized the event.
Principal Tanveer presented the annual report of the school. He said that currently there are more than 4,000 students enrolled in the school that reflects the community's trust upon PISES. The head of institution further revealed that PISES is availing each and every opportunity not only in academics but also in co-curricular and extra-curricular activities for the better grooming of students. The PISEANs showcased brilliant performance in ISSLR ,fine arts and calligraphy competitions and so on.
He said to a thunderous applause that PISES students Aleeha Syed and Amal Fatima got first while Hadia Sehar got third position in Al-Faisal Science Projects Competitions. He said Abdul Rehman, Bilal and Moiz secured second position in a video competition, in the Central Region, held under the supervision of British Council.
Referring to the school's external results, he said the school has been producing wonderful results for more than a decade. The distinction holders included Muzamil Hamid Hussain for 1st position in Math A Level in the KSA, Fatima Hussain and Areeba Azeem for obtaining 1st position in Biology and Chemistry in IGCSE respectively in the Central Region of KSA.
Tanveer thanked the chief guest, chairman SMC, all coordinators and teachers and supporting staff for their cooperation and coordination.
The shields and prizes were given in four different categories. Firstly, the students from grade 1 to grade 9 (from both shifts) were awarded shields. These students topped all the sections of their respective grades. The next category was of the IGCSE - ‘O' Level students. The students who appeared in May/June 2018 IGCSE were given shields and trophies for their excellent performance in this category. In the next segment, A Level students were given shields. Raja Ali Ejaz, madame Ambassador, Chairman SMC Capt. Amir Mehmood and Muhammad Tanvir, Ghazala Arshad, and Saima Noreen gave away the prizes to students in different categories.
In the category of "Top Achievers", the students who got top positions in their respective subjects in the region were given shields. These students were Muzamil Hamid Hussain, Fatima Hussain and Areeba Azeem. On behalf of the principal, staff and students a memento was given to the chief guest.
Usman Ahmed (the Head Boy) and Maida Aizaz (the Head Girl) shared their experiences during their studies at PISES. In their speeches, they thanked PISES for the quality education, teachers for their devotion and loyalty, and parents for their care and love that made all possible.
The musical interludes in the form of tableaus and a solo song, kept the audience spellbound and captivated. "Meray Pyaray Watan Tu Salamat Rahe" , a tableau on patriotic song", "Medley of National songs by Junior Wing students", a solo song by Hassan Ishaq, "We are Unity by Afternoon Girls Wing", and Tribute to Martyrs by SGW presented the glimpses of stage activities of the PISEANs.
In his address, the chairman SMC Capt. Amir Mahmood said that school is making the best use of its resources for upgradation in different fields including the purchase of new computer, audio-video aids and smart boards for the classrooms. He also informed the audience that SMC has introduced centralized exam system to smoothen the school's academics. Moreover, he said that SMC also ensured teachers training through periodic sessions of motivational speakers, training sessions for faculty members as well as understanding Qur'an program. He also thanked MoE, the Ambassador and the principal for the ready support and cooperation.
The Chief Guest Ambassador Ejaz made an very impressive address, where he appreciated students' hard work, teachers' efforts and school' achievements. He highlighted parents' untiring efforts behind all the success of students. While addressing the students, he said that the real journey towards career actually starts now though the school will remain in the memories of all the students who are passing out. He expressed his heartiest congratulations to all the students who took part in the stage performances as the teachers who masterminded these performances.
While addressing the Pakistani community, he said that the doors of Embassy are always open for them to share their ideas and even complaints. He reiterated that PISES has a bright future ahead and will keep on providing quality education for the Pakistani community in Riyadh. The National Anthem of Pakistan marked the end of the ceremony.
