Toastmasters' Division B annual conference held successfully

RIYADH — TM Sasirinda Waragoda and TM Afrasiab Khan stole the show at the Toastmaster's Divison B Annual conference by grabbing two and three trophies respectively in the four contests while TM Omar Al Hussaini won the International Speech contest. The annual conference of Division B, themed "Past and Future in Harmony" was held at Prince Sultan University.
TM Sasirinda won the first place in Table Topics and second place in International speech contests. While TM Afrasiab got second position in Speech evaluation and third positions in International and Humorous Speech contests.
TM Sasirinda won the first place in Table Topics contest while the star speaker of the Division B, TM Omar Al Husseini grabbed the first position in International speech contest. Nail Alenazi and Yousef Ba Isa captured the first positions in Humorous and Speech Evaluation contests respectively.
Deshmi and Sundar were the first and second runner ups in the table topics contest. Sasi and Afsariab got the second and third positions in International Speech contest. In humorous Speech contest; Sima Al Khaldi and Afsariab took second and third positions. In Speech evaluation contest Afsariab and Brian Joshua won the second and third positions.
Afsariab got the three trophies for second and third positions but only the first position holders will represent the division in the Saudi Arabian Toastmasters Annual Conference (SATAC) 2019 to be held in first week of April in Riyadh.
A total of 32 contestants participated from all the Clubs and Areas of Division B. Around 250 Toastmasters and guests from Riyadh and Dammam attended the event. The Contest chair was TM Mohammed Hilmy, Event Coordinator was TM Anver Mohamed Rizan and the Chief Judge was DTM Madhusha Nanayakkara.
TM Ibrahim Subhan was Sergeant @ arms. The conference started with a beautiful Qur'an recitation by Gavelier Ammar Mohamed Zubair. The event was handled by Masters of Ceremony, TM Salim Hakim and TM Deema N. Shaikh. The colorful and musical Banner parade of all the clubs and Areas under Division B was led by the dynamic Division B Director TM Sameena Mahmood.
The Chief Guest Dr. Rimah Alyahya, the vice rector of Prince Sultan University, women's campus, reemphasized the importance of Toastmasters in our lives. She expressed her love for the Toastmaster's cause and assured her support for such events. Contest Chair TM Mohammed Hilmy and Chief Judge DTM Madhusha Nanayakkara briefed the audience about the contest.
The junior toastmasters; namely gaveliers stunned the audience with their excellent oratory skills in Gavels International speech contest and Gavels Table topics contest. Their performance was on par with their senior counterparts.
Gaveliers Dewmith Warnasooriya, Anuk Ranaweera and Ilham Fahim won the first, second and third prizes in table topics contest. Anuk Ranaweera, Zahid Zameek and Ilham Fahim won the Gavel's international speech contest by grabbing first three positions respectively.
On this occasion Division B released its annual magazine called "BEES". The magazine was designed by TM Mohammed Fareez Farooq and its Chief Editor was DTM Mohammed Yaseen Ali. TM Mohammed Hilmy delivered vote of thanks. Finally glittering awarding ceremony for the winners and event organizers concluded the event.
