The Shoura Council will vote on Wednesday on the commercial franchise law, prepared by its economy and energy committee. The law consists of 26 articles to promote commercial franchising activities in the Kingdom by establishing a regulatory framework that governs the relationship between the franchisor and the franchisee. The Council will vote on Tuesday a number of recommendations prepared by the Islamic and judicial affairs committee. The recommendations include demanding the Ministry of Justice to increase the number of administrative jobs for women in courts and notaries; holding premarital awareness programs for young men and women in coordination with the concerned agencies; and take steps to pronounce judicial verdicts without delay. The Council will also vote on the recommendation of the committee for social, family and youth affairs to incorporate a new article in the Child Protection Law and amendment of Article 24 of the same law. Dr. Nora Al-Musaed, Dr. Mouda Al-Khalaf and Dr. Faisal Al-Fadel jointly mooted the amendment. Another legislation to be voted by the Council is the organizational regulations for juvenile homes. The Council is also expected to adopt a number of recommendations of the committee, including a demand to the General Authority of Sports to make medical checkups mandatory for all players associated with sports clubs and making it one of the conditions for the participation well before the sports season. Another recommendation is to speed up the setting up, modernization and development of youth and sports facilities so as to cover all regions of the Kingdom in a way realizing the objectives of the Kingdom's Vision 2030. — SG/SPA
