Saudi Aramco is participating in the Geneva International Motor Show for the first time to showcase a number of transport technologies that have the potential to significantly enhance efficiency and reduce carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions. This participation is in line with the company's active efforts to improve the efficiency of energy use in the transport sector, in particular, by improving the environmental performance of internal combustion engines. The suite of innovative technologies that Saudi Aramco is showcasing at the event have been developed by Saudi Aramco's global research teams in collaboration with leading car manufacturers and technology developers. Ahmad O. Al-Khowaiter, Saudi Aramco's chief technology officer, welcomed the opportunity to highlight the company's research and development efforts in the transport sector. "As the internal combustion engine will continue to power global transport for decades to come, we believe that investing in improving engine technology is essential for any substantial reduction of the transport sector's environmental footprint." Al-Khowaiter said. "We believe that simultaneous development of engines and fuels will unlock tremendous potential for improving engine efficiency, and we look forward to showcasing some of the promising innovations that our teams are developing," he added. The technologies that will be on display by Saudi Aramco include Gasoline Compression Ignition, Opposed-Piston, and Turbulent Jet Ignition. The Company will also showcase its On-board Carbon Capture technology. Held from March 7 to 17, the Geneva International Motor Show is one of the top five motor shows in the world, bringing together the world's leading automotive players and highlighting their latest technological innovations. Saudi Aramco's global transport research encompasses a network of centers in Dhahran, Paris, Detroit and Beijing. The research teams within these centers work collaboratively with partners in academia and the industry on a number of technologies, including advanced internal combustion engine concepts, after-treatment solutions and hybrid powertrain systems. —SG
