Xiaomi unveils Mi 8 Lite, Mi 8 Pro in Saudi Arabia
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 27 - 01 - 2019

GLOBAL technology leader Xiaomi on Sunday announced a slew of exciting products in KSA, highlighting Mi 8 Lite, the latest model in the company's flagship Mi 8 series, which is tailored for young people who demand an amazing smartphone photography experience for their active social media lifestyle. Other products announced include Mi 8 Pro that adds futuristic pressure-sensitive in-display fingerprint unlock, Xiaomi Band 3 and 10,000 mAh Mi Power Bank 2S.
Donovan Sung, Director of Product and Marketing, Xiaomi Global, said "Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is a key market in Xiaomi's global expansion journey. By bring Mi 8 Lite, Mi 8 Pro, Xiaomi Band 3 and Mi Power Bank 2S, we want to offer more choices and let everyone in KSA enjoy a better life through our innovative technology."
The design of Mi 8 Lite was inspired by the works of famous French Impressionist painter Claude Monet, whose paintings are renowned for bringing out the effect of light on natural colors.
The glass back employs an advanced NCVM color process, resulting in a mesmerizing mirror-like gradient finish. The 7.5mm slim body of Mi 8 Lite contains a 6.26-inch 19:9 LCD full screen display, with a FHD+ (2246 x 1080) screen resolution and a Corning Gorilla Glass 5 surface on the front.
With over 24 million pixels, the front-facing Sony IMX576 sensor on Mi 8 Lite is able to capture images in great detail. In low light conditions, the sensor uses Super Pixel technology to combine the information of four pixels into one large pixel, resulting in improved clarity, especially in indoor scenarios. As with Mi 8, the rear AI dual camera uses the Sony IMX363 as its main sensor, which comes with 1.4μm large pixels for images with less noise, along with Dual Pixel Autofocus to dramatically improve focusing speeds so you won't miss your shot.
The high-performance camera hardware is paired with Xiaomi's advanced AI features, including a new AI adjustable bokeh that allows you to change the depth of field after taking a picture. Meanwhile, the Mi 8 Lite display can light up in different colors to suit different scenarios when taking selfies, intelligently illuminating the face with the right color temperature for great-looking selfies.
Snapdragon 660 octa-core SoC with Artificial Intelligence Engine (AIE) designed for high performance and great power efficiency. Enjoy a smooth, lag-free experience when watching movies, playing games, or browsing the web thanks to the Qualcomm Kryo architecture, Qualcomm Adreno 512 GPU, and up to 6GB LPDDR4x DRAM.
Mi 8 Lite sports a 3350mAh battery and supports Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0. It also offers AI face unlock and a rear fingerprint sensor so securing your device is a seamless experience.
Mi 8 Lite will first hit shelves on Jollychic at 9 PM January 21st with Aurora Blue and Midnight Black. It will be available in two versions: 4GB+64GB for SAR 949 and 6GB+128GB for SAR 1,149.
On top of the flagship Mi 8 features, Mi 8 Pro takes it one step further with a pressure-sensitive in-display fingerprint sensor. Unlike other in-display fingerprint technologies that waste energy by constantly pinging the screen to see if a finger is present, the dedicated pressure sensor only activates the unlocking process once you place your finger on the screen, which is faster and more power-efficient.
