The launch was held in the presence of the Chief Minister of Kerala Uman Chandi. The Calicut, South India-based Madhyamm newspaper owns the new channel. As part of it Gulf edition, Gulf Madhyamam is printed and distributed in all the Gulf countries including Saudi Arabia, where it is printed in the Riyadh, Jeddah and Dammam. The new channel obtained the approval of the Saudi Ministry of Culture and Information to open a representative office in the Kingdom, in addition to representative offices in all Gulf states. The Indian defense minister said the channel is equipped with modern technology and sophisticated software and gadgets. Ideal Publication Trust Chairman Arif Ali said the channel is an embodiment of news “credibility” and “high values” in entertainment. Media One, the first channel based in Malabar, promises Gulf-based Indian expatriates more network and news coverage. – SG
