International problems need international solutions. As more and more cyber crimes transcend national borders causing unprecedented damage to governments, businesses and individuals across the globe, the Interpol has widen its response. In a move to protect the world from cyber criminals and e-crime, the organization will be opening its Global Complex for Innovation (IGCI) in Singapore in 2014. The IGCI will support Interpol's 190 member countries better identify criminals linked to digital and cyber security. The research and innovation center is focused on extending its support to all parts of the world, including the Middle East which is home to Oman CERT—the organization recently named the regional center for cyber security and is responsible for 21 Arab countries. As part of its strategy to secure the region's virtual borders, Oman National CERT, ITA Oman and naseba are co-organizing the Cyber Defense Summit—Middle East and North Africa. The summit is endorsed by ITU-IMPACT, the largest security alliance of its kind with 144 member nations. Taking place on March 4- 5, 2013, the summit will foster knowledge-sharing and regional collaboration to ensure regional organizations develop a definitive long-term plan and a more effective cyber defense strategy. — SG
