The sensational revelation that the prime suspect in Ahmedabad serial bomb blasts Abu Basheer alias Abdul Rasheed Mushtaq had links with Hyderabad and spent nearly two years in the city has rattled the police here. After the Gujrat police came out with the details about Mufti Abu Basheer, the state intelligence has also launched the investigations into his activities when he worked in a Madrasa in Hyderabad. He worked at a Madrasa in Pahadi Shareef area of Hyderabad run by Moulana Abdul Aleem Islahi, the father of Mujahid Saleem who was killed in firing by Gujrat police in Hyderabad in Oct. 2004. Moulana Islahi, denying any links with Abu Basheer's activities said that he taught English and Mathematics to the students up to 4th standard in his Madrasa. “But he left in 2006 as there were differences over his salary. He was not satisfied with his pay of Rs3,000 per month,” Moulana Islahi said. He said that Mufti Basheer hailed from Azamgarh in UP and he was alone in Hyderabad, he stayed in the Madrasa itself. Moulana Islahi said that the Madrasa was set up by Mujahid Salim Trust, set up in the memory of his slain son. Mufti Basheer also edited a monthly Urdu magazine “Nishan-e-Rah” for two months before he left the city. The local police say Mufti Basheer was a friend of Mujahid Salim who was killed by Gujarat police when trouble broke during the arrest of another religious figure Moulana Naseeruddin. Moulana Islahi, whose other son Moatasim Billah was also arrested on the charges of conspiracy by Hyderabad police a couple of months ago, rued that the police was trying to target his family by linking Mufti Abu Basheer to him. __
