RIYADH – Seventy-two women prison guards from throughout the country completed on Wednesday comprehensive courses aiming to develop their security skills that was held at the Naif Arab University for Security Sciences (NAUSS). The courses focused on developing attendants' security skills and acquainting them with prison regulations and criminal procedures and how to deal with any riots inside a prison, NAUSS spokesman Dr. Khalid Al-Harfash told Saudi Gazette. The trainees were introduced to prison safety regulations, frisking skills, how to administer first aid and conduct field visits, how to identify the type of psychological condition an inmate may suffer from (e.g. hysterical crying, severe depression, deep sadness, and hunger strikes) and how to deal with it, he said. The NAUSS offered these courses at the request of and in cooperation with the Directorate of Prisons.
