Mishal Al-Otaibi Saudi Gazette RIYADH — A drug dealer was killed and a police officer injured during a two-hour armed confrontation between them in Najran Sunday. Lt. Col. Salman Al-Nashwan, spokesman for the local Drug Combating Department in Najran province, said a narcotics team was tailing the Saudi dealer in Najran's Al-Sanaiah District and were about to arrest him when he locked himself in his car and started firing at officers with a machine gun. Al-Nashwan said officers returned fire when the dealer refused to surrender. The exchange of fire resulted in the drug dealer's death while an officer was slightly injured. He was immediately provided with treatment and was able to resume his duties. Al-Nashwan added that at the end of the skirmish his car was inspected and 337 Captagon tablets, two kilograms of hashish, a pistol loaded with ammunition and 46 bullets were found.
