Housemaid admits to stabbing mother, daughter in Yanbu
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 11 - 12 - 2012

YANBU — A housemaid who stabbed a mother and her daughter in Yanbu has admitted to her crime but has not said why she attacked them, local daily Al-Madinah reported Monday.
The mother's son, Abdul Rahman Mohammed, said she was sleeping in her room while his sister was in another room.
He said: “The housemaid opened the door of my mother's room to make sure that she was asleep but my mother woke up and asked her what she wanted.
“The maid said she wanted a mobile recharge card.
“My mother told her that she would buy the card for her soon.
“The maid then left, closing the door behind her.
“My mother got suspicious, as it was the first time since she joined us that the maid had opened the door to my mother's room while she was still in bed.”
Mohammed said before opening the door to his mother's room, the maid had put two knives, one small and another large, on the TV table.
He said the smaller knife was to be used to kill his sister while the bigger one was to be used for chopping off his mother's head.
He said the maid went to his sister's room, jumped on her and started stabbing her.
He said: “My sister started to cry and my mother immediately rushed to her and tried to subdue the maid.
“My mother asked my sister to escape and call for help.
“My sister sought the help of our neighbors who came quickly and found my mother still struggling with the maid.
“The neighbors subdued the maid and handcuffed her until police arrived at the scene.”
Mohammed did not know why the maid became so hostile despite her quiet nature but believed she was antagonized by a long-distance call she recently received.
He said the housemaid was always talking on the telephone to a woman relative in Makkah.
He said the maid was paid a monthly salary of SR700 in addition to the tips she used to receive during the two Eids and other occasions.
“She was quiet, peaceful and obedient.”
The mother told the newspaper from hospital that she did not expect this kind of behavior from the maid.
She said she became suspicious of her housemaid when she opened her door without knocking.
While she was questioned by the Bureau of Investigation and Prosecution, the housemaid confessed to the attacks but did not give the reasons why she carried them out.
She was later transferred to the women's prison in Yanbu. — SG
