Officers of the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice should not engage in car chases, said Sheikh Ibrahim Al-Ghaith, the commission's head. He added that commission officers are not supposed to inspect the mobile phones of individuals unless they are related to a crime. Ghaith's comments came in a meeting with Vice Chairman of the Human Rights Society Dr. Meflih Al-Qahtani at Ghaith's office. Qahtani said that the society had received several complaints against commission officers who abused their positions. Ghaith responded by saying that the commission will take measures against offending officers, adding that the actions of a few officers should not deter from the good image of the commission. Ghaith also called on the media to be credible and accurate in their coverage of news involving the commission, saying that good stories about the commission always go into inside pages, while the bad ones are given front page coverage. Qahtani said that the court is handling the case of Salman Al-Huraisi, who died in the commission's custody after a raid on his house in Riyadh. The case was recently remanded by the Court of Cassation and returned to the General Court. __
