IIS Dammam emerges overall champ in Cluster Meet 2012

DAMMAM — Amassing 463 points, IIS Dammam emerged overall champion in the 22nd Kingdom-wide Cluster Meet 2012 which was organized by International Indian School Dammam here recently.
IIS Jeddah stood second with 403 points.
Over 500 athletes from 21 schools affiliated with CBSE, New Delhi, participated in the event. The athletes competed in three categories as Under 14, Under 16 and Under 19 in both boys and girls sections.
IIS Dammam also won the overall games (boys and girls) — football,
volleyball, basketball, table tennis and badminton — title with 103 points.
IIS Jeddah boys won the games championship trophy by collecting 50 points.
They emerged winners in football, volleyball, and basketball.
Basketball championship, which was played under a round robin system, was won by IIS Jeddah. IIS Jeddah, IIS Dammam and IIS Riyadh won 2 matches and lost 1 each.
Under the rule of breaking the tie, the greatest quotient was used in which IIS Jeddah was declared winner and IIS Dammam the runner-up.
IIS Dammam ruled in athletics and clinched the overall title.
Winners: U-14, U-16 and U-19 boys – IIS Dammam (152 points).U-14, U-16 and U-19 girls – IIS Dammam (208 points).
Abdul Basit (U-14), Firaz Ashraf Ali (U-16) and Ahmed Abubacker(U-19) of IIS Dammam School were declared individual champions in their respective categories. Anooradha Muthukumar (U-14, IIS Dammam), Rechana Khan(IIS Riyadh) and Momeena Mohammed Saleem (IIS Dammam) of U-16 and Safa Siraj (IIS Jeddah) clinched the individual honors in their respective categories.
IIS Dammam also dominated badminton championship.
Winners: U-14 and U-16 boys – IIS Dammam. U-19 boys – IIS Riyadh. U-14 girls – IIS Dammam. U-16 and U-16 girls - IIS Riyadh.
Principal Dr. E. K. Mohammed Shaffe and the managing committee of IIS Dammam appreciated the efforts of the Physical Education Department of the school consisting of Nunna Lakshmaiah, Pervez Ahmed, Tapas Chattopadhyay, Dr. Solomon Aruparayil, Abdul Lateef, Chechanta M, Riyazudeen, Rupali Solomon, Shirin, Sadia and Mubashira. — SG
