Hanadi Al-Abdullah Saudi Gazette DAMMAM – A sudden malfunction at one of the main pipelines at Jubail Water Desalination Station will reduce the station's output by 50 percent, the Saline Water Conversion Corporation (SWCC) has warned. Calling on consumers to rationalize the consumption of water, the SWCC said it will try to increase the station's production to 80 percent by supplying it with water from emergency reservoirs and other resources, raising the total production of water exported to Riyadh to 800,000 cubic meters a day. Contractors have started underground excavation work and prepared a plan to repair the broken pipeline as soon as possible, according to SWCC's statement. Maintenance teams will continue to work around the clock to fix the problem which will take a minimum of three days. The station should return to full operation in five days. The statement comes in line with the SWCC's transparency policy to keep citizens updated on the latest news and developments.
