RIYADH — The Taiwanese Embassy organized a get-together to celebrate the country's National Day last Tuesday. About 300 people, including Saudi government officials, foreign diplomats and Taiwanese residents, attended the event at Mirage, a well-known restaurant that serves traditional Taiwanese food in the Saudi capital. Welcoming the guests, Taiwanese Ambassador Lin Jinn-Jong said relations between Taiwan and Saudi Arabia was stronger than ever before due to fast growing bilateral trade and economic exchanges in recent years. He said Taiwan, under its current President Ma Yin Jeou had been making serious efforts to take part in international platforms and improve relations with mainland China. — SG
