RIYADH — The Centenciadores and D'Consistence clinched the Teams of the Week honors again for the 8th and 9th games at the Bayanihan Cup 2012 Team Tennis Challenge here.
The Challenge continues to draw a supportive and enthusiastic crowd every Thursday and Friday at the Al-Yamamah Hotel Sports Complex.
The Centenciadores Team maneuvered the Top Ten Team with a score of 37-30 (4-2 game sets).
Results as follows: July Maniacap and Ricky Ortega downed Ed Sarmiento and Neal Perez at 8-5; Anthony Guiao and Fidel Ferrer defeated Dante Bautista and Ramil Ancajas at 8-4; Tony Fernandez and Jobert Ang continued their impressive form beating Nabil Mojica and Nick Real 8-4; Jaime Vidante and Teddy Marpuri beat Ricky Villa and Roderick Lanzuel 8-1; while the determined pair of Nelson Barcenas and Dodie Vizcarra bowed to the consistent pair of Butch Magalong and Manny Aumentado 2-8.
In Friday's match at Court 2, the D'Consistence Team, headed by Ed Aves and supported by Ogie Ralar, devastated Bong Bueta and Ken Bonquit Ace of Ten Team 51-24 (5-1 sets). Rommel Gomez and Ogie Ralar were overpowered by Arnel Orda and Bong Bueta 5-8. Meanwhile, Joe Gutierrez and Lito Erua outgunned John Bayucot and Richard Go 8-4. Angelito Sicat and Jess Lim scored an 8-2 win over the experienced pair of Nasil Kalayakan and Ken Bonquit. Jeremy Sorizo and Francis Galdones conquered Boy Tan and Arvin Bermudez 8-3, Hector dela Torre and Adrian San Juan overpowered the erratic pair of Angel Jarobel and Vir Rubio 8-5, while Ed Aves and Francis Lobo downed Tisoy de Leon and Alex dela Cruz 8-1.
The remarkable performance by D'Consistence won it the Team of the Week honor.
Xtreme Netters Team beat the equally strong Tenistang Pinoy 38-37. The power play of Jun Rafuson and Gerome Corpuz was too much for the pair of Chito Umandal and Romy Penaflor, who lost 8-3; Jad Adriano and Wilson Petalcorin downed the spirited pair of Arly Llunar and Nelson Martinez 8-5; Veteran Jess Butalid and guest player Eky Lutian downed Nestor Pepito and Jun Aguilar 8-6; while Omar Taha and Ronaldo Zabala were ousted by Johnny Suan and Ismael Taha 8-3; while the tandem of Bong Marawid and Edmund Prodenciado outclassed Fred Halog and Zufyan Saynudin.
D'Lieutenants Team shared the same total game sets (3-3) and the total game points (37-37) against the Intensity 12 Team. Raffy Uy and Serge Ariola surprised the tandem of Gil Gasca and Jonathan del Pilar 8-4; Froilan de Vera and Dong Calub bowed to Emmanuel Fabria and Dexter Salona 2-8; Mar Sawadjaan and Hermie Soliven were defeated by Rodel Llanuza and Jojo Balisi 5-8; Ritchie Hernandez and Lope Tubio outplayed JP Guiao and Roger Matira 8-5; Eric Villano and Ed Briagas were outclassed by Bernard “Bong” Matutina and Giffard Olaan 6-8; while Jun Suacito and Alimar Singkay blasted Boy Rogel and Bong Cardino 8-4.
In the 8th game, the Teensquad made a close encounter against D'Consistence by earning a total game points of 39-38 and sharing number of sets won (3-3).
Big@Ten Team trounced Green Extreme Team with total game points (41-32) as the two shared the sets at 3 each. On another court, Ace of Ten Team, captained by Bong Bueta and assisted by Ken Bonguit, beat Tennis Warrior Team, headed by Ernan Santiago and Ting Banday, 40-32, sharing 3 sets.
A medical camp was also held at the tennis courts by Dr. Dennis Monzon and a couple of male nurses.
