ROME — Cyclist Fabrizio Macchi has been cleared of doping after being excluded from Italy's London Paralympic team. The Italian Olympic Committee's anti-doping court issued its ruling Friday, accepting that Macchi did not pay banned physician Michele Ferrari nor receive training programs from the doctor. The 42-year-old Macchi maintains that his only contact with Ferrari was to help with a university thesis on disabled athletes by the physician's daughter in 2007, when Macchi was not licensed by the Italian cycling federation. The anti-doping prosecutor had recommended an eight-month ban. — AP
