JOHANNESBURG — Martin Kaymer of Germany, who holed the putt that retained the Ryder Cup for Europe, will play in the South African Open next month. The former top-ranked player confirmed his participation for the Nov. 15-18 event at Serengeti Golf Course near Johannesburg. It will be a first appearance for the 2010 PGA Championship winner at the European Tour tournament, which offers $1.3 million in prize money this year. Hennie Otto of South Africa is the defending champion. Tournament chairman Khaya Ngqula says organizers are “delighted” to have Kaymer in the field. — AP
