IT looks like we are about to witness a new era during which the Saudi people will get rid of several diseases. This is not because we are going to have a boom in the healthcare sector and we are going to see a health facility everywhere. No. This is because we are not going to be able to afford red meat as its price will become unaffordable. Even middle-income families won't be able to afford the price of red meat, according to the minister of agriculture. That means only upper class families will be able to enjoy eating red meat. Let me remind everybody here who cannot afford to buy red meat to enjoy every moment while the red meat prices have not increased yet. If some of us want to replace red meat with white meat and eat chicken, they should think twice because poultry prices are expected to double, according to market indicators. The only choice we have is to become a nation of vegetarians. But we should be careful what vegetables we eat as the prices of some vegetables have increased as well and are expected to further increase in the foreseeable future. However, the price of tomatoes has remained unchanged. The minister of agriculture says his ministry is working on a strategy to solve the problem. But let me tell you something. Do not expect anything out of this strategy because camels are no longer used as a source of food but rather they are used for festivals. The price of a camel can get as high as a few million riyals. Moreover, the strategy won't work for sheep.
