The participants in Bab Rizq Jameel's “Make Your Living With Your Camera" photography contest is proliferating every year. The number of contestants increased from 400 in 2010 to 900 in 2011, and this year it's expected to go higher.
The award seeks to create job opportunities for talented young males and females in this creative field through making their works accessible to photography-related industries, such as journalism, advertising agencies and arts in general.
This year's theme is conceptual photography, where the photographer will develop a concept for the idea before the actual shooting.
The photographer has to create an appropriate environment for his photography to send the right message to his viewers. According to award supervisor and artist Mohammed Bahrawi, conceptual photography does not depend only on the technical skill of the photographer.
Bahrawi said educational workshops will be organized in the major cities of the Kingdom for the contestants to educate them about its theme.
The award which has started this month will continue for 45 days and contestants aged between 18-40 can participate to show off their creativity.
Abdulrahman Al Fihaid, Executive Director of BRJ Saudi Arabia, said: “This award is one of the valuable BRJ awards for young males and females, as it aims to create outstanding job opportunities for them in creative and technical fields."
Amani Alothmani, BRJ Events Executive said that five-member panel of judges skilled in photography will select the top three winners.
A 10-day exhibition will be organized for the first 10 nominees at the Arabian Wings Gallery, where the winners will also be announced. Winners will get a contract worth SR30,000 from ALJ Community Initiatives to prepare photographs for the “Saudi Success Book".
Registration is being done through Bab Rizq Jameel website,
www.babrizqjameel.com. To communicate with the contestants, visit Bab Rizq Jameel links on Facebook and Twitter.
Since its establishment in 2003, Bab Rizq Jameel has created more than 230,000 job opportunities for young males and females. — SG
