Bayanihan Cup begins today

GuintoRIYADH — Pinoy Netters will embark on its 2nd tournament of the year in celebration of its 10th year anniversary. A total of 12 teams, composed of 144 players, will compete in Bayanihan Cup which opens at Al-Yamamah Hotel Tennis Courts here Friday.
To pay tribute to the club's one decade of existence all teams chose their team's name with the word TEN or Roman numeral X.
The opening ceremony will start with the parade of participating teams and little muses/escorts followed by the singing of the Philippine national anthem by the PNC Choir and the opening remarks by Pinoy Netters President Antonio Fernandez.
Sinag Pinoy Best Player awardee in 2012, Jonathan del Pilar will lead the oath of sportsmanship to be followed by the awarding of best team in uniform and best muse. Tournament Director, Ed Sarmiento will declare the games open while Vice President for Internal Affairs, Ting Banday, will deliver the closing remarks. Ceremonies will be hosted by Dodie Vizcarra and toastmaster Tony Monter.
Opening day games pit Ace of Ten vs. Xtreme Netters (court 1), Sentenciador vs. Intensity 12 (court 2), Tennis Warriors vs. BigaTen (court 3), Top Ten vs. D' Consistence (court 4), Teensquad vs. Tenistang Pinoy (court 5) and D' Lieutenants vs. Green Xtreme (court 6).
Regular games will be played every Thursday and Friday from 5:00 P.M. and will run for a period of six weeks.
On-the-spot photo contest
In collaboration with Shatters Guilds in Riyadh PNC will be holding an on-the-spot photo contest in celebration of the anniversary. The contest will runs for two consecutive weekends, from Sept. 7. All players, members of Shatters Guilds and spectators can join the contest in three categories namely Candid, Emotions and Tennis in Action. Entries will be displayed at the tennis court lobby and the winners will be chosen by the 144 players through voting. Contest mechanics are given in Pinoy Netters Facebook account. Entries should be submitted to JP Guiao and Neal Perez before Sept. 27. Trophies and gift items will be given away to the first two winners of each category.
Tournament and on-the-spot photo contest sponsors are Bayanihan Cargo Forwarders, Al-Haram Import & Export Company (Al-Haram Center), former Pinoy Netters President, Sarge Gumapac and officers Neal Perez and Nick Real, Jr.
