Energy conservation is not for the elderly alone

ELDERLY people are aware of the importance of saving energy and often turn off unused lights and electronic devices. The younger generation on the other hand regards such energy-saving initiatives as a sign of old age and dismiss them as tradition passed down from forefathers.
In general, the younger generation does not care about conserving energy and this is precisely why we see fathers yelling at their kids for wasting electricity by, for example, leaving the lights on.
Some families consume too much energy and this is a fact. Therefore, I completely agree with the behavior of the elderly because by saving energy in our homes, we are also conserving energy for humanity. The attention elderly people pay to this issue shows not only that they are careful with money but it also shows that they are aware of their responsibility; it shows that they support Earth Day, power conservation and global warming.
Allow me to digress and tell you a story about a father and son. The father opened a bank account for his 12-year-old son and deposited some money into the account. He then told his son that he would be responsible for buying groceries and paying bills every month.
“I won't give you a monthly allowance anymore. I'll deposit a certain amount of money every month for you to use for groceries and bills. You have to save some money from this amount,” the father said to his son.
Two months later, the boy's mother complained to her husband that their son was going around the house constantly turning off lights and unplugging unused household appliances. While the mother thought her son was cheap, his father considered him responsible and aware of the importance of conserving energy.
In his book “A thousand miles begins with one step,” Prince Abdullah Bin Musa'ed wrote that Abdul Aziz Al-Quraishi, former governor of the Saudi Arabian Monetary Agency (SAMA), used to tell his son that leaving a light on in an unused room is tantamount to burning SR100.
If people realize that they are burning money when they leave unused lights on, they will have a greater sense of awareness of energy consumption. Consuming too much energy has had a negative effect on living conditions on this planet.
We must stop wasting energy because when we do this, we will show that we are aware of this precious product and how to use it wisely.
