CGI's Welfare Wing mobilizes community groups to help the needy
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 15 - 08 - 2012

TRUE to its name the Community Welfare Wing of the Consulate General of India is always in the forefront to provide help and guidance to the community in times of need. With the help and active support of the multiple community organizations, the Wing has been rendering welfare services of all nature encompassing employment, healthcare, family disputes, marriage and deaths. Our endeavour is to mobilize and involve well-off community members and organizations in these services.
In this direction, a new initiative has been launched under the guidance of the Consul General. Under which, all Indian organizations working under the jurisdiction of this Consulate have been requested to register with it so that in the hour of need, they may be reached and requested to help their compatriots. This may be accessed to through the link, “Consul General's Note for Registration" on our website, www.cgijeddah.com.
Under our mandate of providing protection and welfare to the Indian expatriates, we provide all types of required assistance to the needy Indians. This encompasses whole range of advisory, legal, financial and medical assistance based on requirement and assessment of individual case. Some of the salient examples are as follows:
n To attend and resolve the labour-related problems of the Indian work force and provide official, technical, linguistic and financial assistance to the complainants.
n Facilitating and monitoring recruitment of Indian laborers.
n Registration of deaths and facilitation of death compensations.
n Facilitating early burial and deportation of dead bodies.
n Solemnization and registration of Marriages under Foreign Marriage Act.
n Facilitating imprisoned/convicted Indians to get released and deported.
n To liaise with the local government to search Missing Indians.
n To coordinate with the local Indian community organizations to extend welfare activities viz., organization of free medical camps, career guidance programs, cultural get-togethers, sector-wise open fora/question-answer sessions, dissemination of useful information amongst the community.
