Toyota's all new sports car, the most compact four-seater sports car available, combines the impressive pull of its 200 DIN hp 2.0 litre Boxer Engine with a rear wheel drive and a kerb weight of just 1,240kg. The result is a hugely engaging drive: a vehicle that can be driven as an extension of the driver's body. The Toyota 86 makes the most of a light kerb weight, making it easy for the driver to exploit its nimble handling. Both the powertrain and the driver's seat have been set as low and as far back as possible, for a near-perfect front-to-rear weight balance and an ultra-low centre of gravity. The suspension features MacPherson struts at the front and double wishbones at the rear, with ventilated disc brakes fore and aft. The taut, aerodynamic exterior design says so much from a distance, but it's up close that the full character of the Toyota 86 comes to the fore.
