Published in The Saudi Gazette on 29 - 07 - 2008

The Jeddah municipality will start to provide homes in the rural areas of the Kingdom with electricity, despite refusing earlier if owners could not provide the proof of ownership documents.
The municipal courts stated that four new authorities will be created to provide electricity to 53 areas which encompass all of Jeddah as well as rural areas.
The newly created authorities will be headed by Mamdoh Al-Adini, responsible for rural areas in the Jeddah Municipality, and several members of electricity management for the Jeddah Municipality.
The areas will be divided up into four different groups, with one authority dealing with one specific area.
“The rural areas include historical sites like Al-Balad, Al-Bughdadia, Al-Sahifa, Al-Amaria, Al-Kndra, Al-Sabil and Al-Hindawia,” said Ali Babeir, Jeddah Municipality Building and Projection manager.
Districts on the outskirts like Medaen Al-Fahd, Al-Jamea, Al-Rwabi, Al-Aziziah and Al-Rabwa will also be included in the plans as well as Briman, Qwiza, Al-Muntzahat, Kilo 11, Kilo 14 north, Kilo 15 south, Kilo 16 and Kilo 23, Babeir said.
Rural areas will also have work done to improve water supply, health services and educational facilities in addition to the electricity.
Babeir said the time allocated by the municipality is not enough since the projects are on such a large scale. He said they will request a certain period of time for completion of the projects be expanded because of their importance. __
