Maher Abbas Saudi Gazette RIYADH/CAIRO — Saudi Arabia and Egypt enjoy historical and deep-rooted relations and they have withstood the test of time, Egypt's new President Mohamed Morsy has said. “Saudi-Egyptian relations are a model for Arab-Arab cooperation," he said in a statement on the eve of his visit to the Kingdom starting Wednesday. This is Morsy's first foreign visit after taking over as president last month. “We in Egypt always appreciate the just stance of the Kingdom on all Arab issues and its support for Arab causes," he said. Both Saudi Arabia and Egypt, he said, are “working for the Arab nation, resolving (Arab) differences, and supporting Arab solidarity, as their strengths are for the Arab and Muslim worlds." The Egyptian leader also commended King Abdullah, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, for his sincere efforts in supporting Arab causes. “We respect and appreciate the sincere efforts of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques in support of Arab cooperation and his role in support of Arab causes," he said. Meanwhile, the presidential lounge at Cairo airport will open for President Morsy for the first time since the January 25 uprising. Sources at Cairo airport said all the necessary arrangements have been made to facilitate Morsy's departure for Riyadh. Presidential guards have been deployed at the lounge's Gate 27 from where Morsy will board the presidential plane. Security forces have also taken position along the routes leading to the airport. Dozens of undercover police have also been deployed around the airport while the presidential guards will escort the president to the airport.
