A group of 30 Saudi youth's obsession for the supernatural got them into trouble with authorities after they broke into an abandoned hospital building in Hafr Al-Batin to record a video clip of Jinn that allegedly reside in the building, Al-Eqtisadiah daily reported. A recent campaign titled “The National Day to Invade Dwelling Places of Jinn” encouraged Saudis to storm several places in the Kingdom allegedly haunted by Jinn and take pictures or videos of the supernatural creatures and upload them onto the Internet. The campaign highlighted three haunted places in the Eastern Province: A house in Dammam, an apartment building in Jubail and the abandoned hospital in Hafr Al-Batin and the Araqa hospital in Riyadh, a house in Najran and a hospital in Jeddah. When the group arrived at the abandoned hospital in Hafr Al-Batin, a number of citizens reported their suspicious behavior to police who arrived at the scene and promptly arrested them. Later, local residents, fed up of people trying to break into the building, blocked all roads leading to the hospital. Brig. Gen. Zeya Al-Maqati, official spokesman of Eastern Province police, confirmed that a group of Saudi youth was held for trying to break into the abandoned building. He added that the group was later released after promising not to return to the hospital.
