Grand Mufti Sheikh Abdulaziz Aal Al-Sheikh has called the kidnapping of the Saudi diplomat in Yemen a “great crime” and a “heinous act” rejected by wisdom and logic, as well as by Islamic Shariah. The Shariah prohibits aggression and injustice in all its forms, he said in an address. “As the policies and orientations of Saudi Arabia stem from the teachings of Islam and as it applies Islamic Shariah in all walks of life, the Kingdom has been in the forefront among countries that have fought terrorism,” Aal Al-Sheikh said. “The Kingdom's position toward terrorism is clear, consistent and based on justice and equity and characterized by objectivity and transparency.” He called on the kidnappers of the Saudi diplomat to end this immoral behavior, release the victim, and repent from the criminal act. The Grand Mufti stressed that Saudi Arabia has been keen on the safety of its citizens and missions abroad.
