Wozniacki advances to 2nd round

time defending champion Caroline Wozniacki overcame Urszula Radwanska of Poland 7-6 (4), 6-2 Tuesday to reach the second round of the e-Boks Open.
The 21-year-old Dane was down a break in the first set before rallying to force the tiebreaker. She then broke three times in the second to clinch the victory in 2 hours, 5 minutes.
Fourth-seeded Monica Niculescu of Romania also advanced, beating Valeria Savinykh of Russia 6-2, 6-2, while No. 5 Kaia Kanepi of Estonia ousted Anastasia Rodionova of Australia 6-3, 6-4.
Schiavone loses
In Spain, top-seeded Francesca Schiavone was eliminated in the first round of the Barcelona Open Tuesday, losing 6-4, 6-3 to qualifier Olga Govortsova of Belarus.
Second-seeded Julia Goerges and No. 3 Dominika Cibulkova easily avoided upsets. Goerges' earned a 6-4, 6-0 victory over French opponent Aravane Rezai, while Cibulkova defeated Iryna Bremond of France 6-0, 6-3 on the outdoor clay at the Vall d'Hebron Center.
Fifth-seeded Flavia Pennetta of Italy beat Lara Arruabarrena-Veci of Spain 6-0, 6-4. In other first-round matches, Carla Suarez Navarro, Laura Pous-Tio, Estrella Cabeza Candela, Lourdes Dominguez Lino and Klara Zakopalova all earned victories to advance.
Ouahab tops Haase
In Morocco, Algerian qualifier Lamine Ouahab upset sixth-seeded Robin Haase 6-3, 6-2 in the first round at the Grand Prix Hassan II Tuesday.
Ouahab broke the Dutchman's serve twice in each set, winning in one hour to set up a second-round match against Sergio Gutierrez-Ferrol of Spain. Gutierrez-Ferrol won 6-2, 6-1 against Rui Machado of Portugal. Earlier, Albert Ramos beat Pere Riba 6-2, 6-3 in an all-Spanish match.
The seventh-seeded Ramos broke five times and will play Victor Hanescu of Romania, who led 6-2, 3-0 against Malek Jaziri when the Tunisian retired.
Jeremy Chardy saved eight of nine break points to defeat Federico Delbonis of Argentina 6-4, 7-5. The Frenchman will meet top-seeded Florian Mayer of Germany.
Paul-Henri Mathieu of France broke five times en route to beating Mehdi Ziadi of Morocco 6-3, 6-1, and Matthias Bachinger of Germany downed Italian veteran Filippo Volandri 6-3, 3-6, 6-3.
Berlocq stuns Blake
Sixth-seeded Carlos Berlocq of Argentina overcame an injury to beat American James Blake 6-4, 2-6, 6-1 in a first-round match at the US men's clay court championship Monday.
American Sam Querrey, a 2010 finalist, beat Eric Prodon of France 6-1, 6-4 in another first-round match. Tommy Haas withdrew with a right knee injury.
