Prince Salman honors SABIC in role on health
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 27 - 02 - 2012

Prince Salman Bin Abdulaziz, Minister of Defense, has honored SABIC for sponsoring the Saudi International Conference on Nephrology and Transplantation held recently in collaboration with the Prince Fahd Bin Salman Charity Association for Renal Failure Patients Care at the King Fahd Cultural Center in Riyadh. SABIC was the Platinum Sponsor of the conference.
Prince Salman presented a memento to Mohamed Al-Mady, SABIC Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, at the opening ceremony of the event.
Al-Mady said that SABIC's sponsorship of the conference is rooted in its commitment to contribute responsibly to a better society and support any national activity that serves the local community. SABIC extends support to patients, particularly kidney patients in remote areas, and helps them pursue their treatment options.
Prince Salman's patronage of the conference has given it an added impetus, Al-Mady said. “It reflects his keen interest in the welfare of patients in the Kingdom, and his determined efforts to ease their sufferings,” he was quoted as saying in a latest press release of SABIC.
Al-Mady stressed the importance of enhanced health care services, and the need for community efforts towards caring for citizens suffering from various diseases.
He noted that this year, the conference was attended by representatives from major Saudi hospitals, as well as from USA, Britain, Germany, Poland, Canada and Sweden. “This has made the event an important global platform for exchanging ideas and expertise on kidney ailments in the Kingdom and the region,” he said.
On SABIC's Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives, Al-Mady said that they have assumed new, qualitative dimensions in recent years, focusing on serving Saudi patients. SABIC has launched important health initiatives in recent times including the establishment of a hospital for mental health and addiction treatment, and a mobile clinic for the early detection of breast cancer.
SABIC is also supporting the National Survey of Health and the “pressures of life” project.
‘It also supports Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder Society, and has extended a grant of SR 333 million in support of disabled children. These humanitarian initiatives are consistent with the efforts made by the Saudi government for the benefit of society,' said Samir Al-Abdrabbuh, Vice President, Corporate Communications.
