Defending champion Caroline Wozniacki reached the semifinals of the Dubai Tennis Championships Thursday, while US Open champion Sam Stosur was beaten by Jelena Jankovic of Serbia. Caroline Wozniacki ousted Ana Ivanovic of Serbia 6-3, 7-5 in a meeting of former No. 1s, after Jankovic had beaten Stosur 6-4, 6-2 Thursday. The 22-year-old Wozniacki eased through the first set and then overcame tougher resistance in the second before overcoming the Serb 1 hour, 33 minutes. Wozniacki is the highest-seeded player left in Dubai at No. 3 after top-ranked Victoria Azarenka pulled out of the tournament Wednesday because of an ankle injury. Wozniacki will play Julia Goerges Friday after the unseeded German defeated Daniela Hantuchova of Slovakia 4-6, 6-3, 6-4. Earlier, the eighth-seeded Jankovic was in control throughout the match as the fourth-seeded Stosur struggled with her game. Jankovic will meet fifth-seeded Agnieszka Radwanska in the semifinals Friday. The Polish player advanced after defeating ninth-seeded Sabine Lisicki of Germany, 6-2, 6-1. Gasquet, Llodra in quarters In France, Michael Llodra of France stunned sixth-seeded Alexandr Dolgopolov of Ukraine 6-4, 5-7, 7-6 (5) Thursday to reach the quarterfinals of the Open 13. Richard Gasquet also advanced by cruising past Igor Kunitsyn of Russia 6-3, 6-2. Vinci ousted at Monterrey Open In Mexico, top seed Roberta Vinci was ousted from the $220,000 WTA Monterrey Open Wednesday, with Russian Nina Bratchikova upsetting the Italian 7-5, 7-5 to reach the quarterfinals. Bratchikova needed only 81 minutes to advance to the last-eight where she will face the winner of a Thursday match between Hungarian sixth seed Greta Arn and Croatian qualifier Maria Abramovic. Italian second seed Sara Errani downed France's Alize Cornet 6-2, 6-3 and Romanian Alexandra Cadantu eliminated Spain's Silvia Soler-Espinosa 7-6 (8-6), 6-3 in other second-round matches. Cadantu will next face Spanish eighth seed Lourdes Dominguez Lino, who defeated Russian Valeria Savinykh 6-4, 6-2.
